Daystar University staff, ICPAK representatives, and KASNEB partners unite for a group photo celebrating a day of mentorship and environmental stewardship at the Main Campus Athi River.

[Athi River Campus, Friday, November 28, 2025] The School of Business and Economics in partnership with the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK), held a Tree Planting and Student Mentorship Day on Friday, November 28, 2025, at Athi River Campus.
The event brought together students, staff, faculty, ICPAK members, KASNEB, and the KASNEB Foundation, creating a vibrant atmosphere of collaboration and community engagement. ICPAK also, donated1600 trees to Daystar University.
The event was graced by ICPAK Council Member, FCPA Georgina Malombe and FCPA Felix Mulwa (ICPAK Eastern Branch) who offered inspiring remarks to students on ethical leadership, professional growth, and the role of young people in shaping sustainable futures.
The event was organized by HoD Economics, CPA Charles Katua. Also present was Ag. Dean School of Business and Economics, Dr. Joanes Kyongo, Dean of Students, Rev. Mutinda Musyimi, SBE Faculty members-Dr. Molson Onchomba, Dr. Sylvia Nganga, Dr. Ann Mwangi.
Activities began with a brief opening session where the organizing committee highlighted the objectives of the event, which included promoting environmental stewardship, enhancing student mentorship, and strengthening partnerships between academic institutions and professional bodies.
Students engaged actively with mentors from ICPAK and KASNEB, seeking advice on career development, professional conduct, and opportunities within the Accounting and Finance fields. Staff and faculty also participated, reinforcing a culture of collective responsibility and institutional pride.
Participants were later divided into groups and guided to the designated tree-planting zones next to SBE Building. By the end of the day, hundreds of seedlings had been planted, and meaningful mentorship conversations had taken place.
The collaborative spirit demonstrated during the event reflected the university’s dedication to holistic education and sustainable development.
The partnership among Daystar University, ICPAK, KASNEB, and the KASNEB Foundation significantly contributed to the success of the event and highlighted the value of multi-stakeholder engagements in shaping student experiences.
The tree planting & student mentorship day concluded on a positive note, with participants expressing appreciation for the opportunity to contribute to environmental conservation while gaining valuable professional insights.
The event stood as a testament to Daystar University’s ongoing commitment to nurturing responsible, well-grounded, and environmentally conscious graduates.
