On Wednesday, January 12th, 2022, Daystar University signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Machakos County Government, enabling Daystar School of Nursing students to do their clinical attachments in over 200 health facilities spread across Machakos County.
Signing on behalf of Daystar University was the Vice-chancellor, Prof. Laban P. Ayiro, while Machakos County was represented by Dr. Ancent Kituku, a member of the County Government Executive Committee for Health and Emergency Services. He was accompanied by Director of Programs & Partnerships, Department of Health & Emergency Services Dr. Ruth Muthama, while Prof. Ayiro was witnessed by the DVC Academic, Research and Student Affairs Prof. Faith Nguru, Dean School of Nursing Dr. Susan Njuguna, and HOD, Department of Nursing Education Mrs. Keziah Njuguna.
This comes at a time when the Machakos County government has received a Neurosurgeon and a Cardiologist from Cuba, giving the students an opportunity to gain wider experience in the medical field. Machakos County Government is also set to benefit from the extra hands of nursing students and their lecturers who will add on to the County nursing workforce for improved service delivery.
Prof. Ayiro assured Machakos County health services that Daystar University produces quality nurses with value-based education and skills that Kenya’s health system and the world are looking for.
