The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Laban P. Ayiro has called on all new students to consistently give their best in everything they do and endeavor to remain real. He made the call while giving his matriculation address to freshmen at the Athi River Campus on 12 January 2022.
“The success you desire in life does not depend on the image you are able to project but from being real,” he said.
He also challenged them to shift their focus from material things, saying that true fulfillment does not come from achievements and gain of material things, but from valuing the real substance and things one has around them.
Recounting his own career growth and work experience, the VC encouraged students to embrace the responsibilities that come their way enthusiastically just like he did, hence the opening for him doors of success.
“Those who move life forward benefit from resulting progress, therefore I charge you to honor your commitment to your parents, the University and to yourself by meeting your obligations and valuing your achievements,” he said, charging them to treasure what is within them so that goodness can flow to every part of their lives.
“Fill your hearts with love and love will soon surround you, fill your hearts with thoughts of gratitude and abundance will be yours,” the Vice Chancellor said in conclusion.
In her remarks, the DVC Academic, Research and Student Affairs Prof. Faith Nguru assured the new students that the entire Daystar University fraternity was committed to leave a mark in their lives and looked forward to their success.
